Daniel Lindenberg (born in 1940 with Clermont-Ferrand), Essay writer, historian of the ideas and Journalist French. He is professor with the Université of Paris VIII and adviser with the direction of the review Esprit . He animated the weekly meetings of readers to the Parisian seat of this monthly review.

Born immigrant parents Jewish S Polish, it continues studies of history and of Sociologie to the Sorbonne and it adheres to the Union communist students during the years 1960. It passes then the Union of Communist youths (Marxist-Leninist), a group Maoïste where also Blandine Kriegel militates which will make it break thereafter with the Marxisme.

As from the years 1970, it is devoted to the Histoire of the ideas; its first tests published at Maspero are inspired by the philosopher althussérien Nikos Poulantzas.

New reactionaries

In 2002, the name of Daniel Lindenberg is associated with the publication of a Pamphlet entitled the Call to order: inquire into the new reactionaries . This very mediatized work aimed at personalities such as Alain Finkielkraut, Marcel Gauchet, Philippe Muray or Pierre-André Taguieff. It caused many polemics, and naturally several criticisms on behalf of the personalities criticized by Lindenberg.
