Daniel Harrwitz
Daniel Harrwitz (April 29th, 1823 with Breslau, Germany - January 9th, 1884 with the the Tyrol, Austria) was a German player of failures. In the years 1840 and 1850, it belonged to the elite of the players.
Biography
It establishes its reputation in Paris, especially as player of left to the blind man. It loses a match in England against Howard Staunton in 1846 and made tie against Adolf Anderssen in Germany in 1848.As from 1849, he lives in England where he founds the British Chess Review . In 1856, it goes to Paris and gains a match against River. Two years later, he plays against Paul Morphy. He gains the first two parts, but loses the match by abandonment, Morphy carrying out 5,5-2,5 at this time. He withdraws competition then, for health reason affirmed he. He takes then his retirement in the Austrian Tyrol, where he dies in 1884.
Harrwitz carried it on Anderssen with the number of victories. Although under this report/ratio it lost against Morphy, it is one of the rare Masters to have beaten it with the Blacks. Here one of these victories in Paris in 1858:
