Very recently, the sculptor Daniel Druet gave body to work headlight of Léonard de Vinci by carrying out the bust life size of Mona LISA. Biography

Childhood

Its toys of child: Modeling clay, then towards the age of 7 years, a established offered by a friend of his father, with mallet S, Chisel X with wood, etc Really not attracted by the traditional studies, it is put at the door of the college at 14 years and can finally marry its only true passion: the Sculpture. What will not prevent it from amongst other things acquiring a solid knowledge of the French history.

Training and formation

First of all Volti raises since 1956, to the School of the Applied arts (today ENSAAMA), it enters then in 1961 to the 3Ecole Nationale Sup3erieure of the Art schools under the benevolent eye of its mentor, Louis Leygue.

Distinctions

In 1966, he sees himself allotting the 1st Price of the contest of Monumental Art.

He gains large the Prix of Rome in 1968 right before the suppression of the contest by André Malraux.

The following year, it is Lauréat of the Casa of Velasquez in Madrid, institution near which it will be named member of the artistic council in 1977.

Dedication

In 1959, whereas it is only 18 years old and still follows the courses of ENSBA, Daniel Druet obtains his first government order: a Monument for a school beside Thionville.

Between 1973 and 1983, he becomes the exclusive sculptor of the Musée Grévin in Paris and will carry out approximately 200 Personnage S of Cire.

As from 1985, it creates several Musée S of wax in France like abroad.

Since the Seventies, Daniel Druet carried out hundreds of Buste S (Plâtre, Bronze, Cire…) of Personality S of the whole world, for the majority come to pose in its workshop.

In parallel, since 1965, it conceived and formatted for the State or the local government agencies, about fifteen monumental bronze and stone sculptures.

Works

Wax characters

the starting point of the realization of any wax character resides in a research which one could describe as " psychologique". This initial stage is essential and is translated is by a meeting with the model (the sitting) when it is about a contemporary personality, that is to say, for the historical figures, by an investigation through the books - biographies in particular - and, of course, paintings, sculptures and portraits of all kinds (drawings, engravings, prints, etc) to the effigy of the character. A character in question to reconstitute the image while going, if one can say, " beyond the apparences" , by a kind of intellectual hologram. Because relief of a wax figure, its " présence" , require this superposition of the physical image and the psychological image. Throughout the realization - modelling, moulding out of wax, painting and make-up, poses glass eyes (of genuine medical prostheses), plantation of the hair (true, them also) or choice of the wigs -, it is essential that the sculptor is with the spirit major of his character.
