Its Holiness Daniel is the current primacy of the Rumanian orthodoxe Église (since the September 12th 2007).

Biography

Daniel CIOBOTEA was born the July 22nd 1951 in the village from Dobreşti, in a family of three children.

After its secondary studies, it was registered with the orthodoxe Faculty of theology with Sibiu (1970-1974).

From the 1974 to 1976 it prepared a doctorate in systemic theology near the large theologist Dumitru Stăniloae with Bucharest, which will advise to him to continue its studies abroad.

It spends two years to the Faculty of Protestant theology of Strasbourg (France) and two years to the catholic Faculty of theology of the university “Albert Ludwig” to Freiburg-in-Brisgau, (Germany).

July 15th, 1979 it obtains a doctorate in theology with the Protestant Faculty of Strasbourg (prone of thesis: “Reflection and life Christian women today. Test on the relationship between theology and spirituality”).

In 1987, he pronounces his monastic vows with the monsatère of Sihistaria.

In March 1990, he is crowned bishop vicar of the metropolis of Temisvar. In June 1990, he is elected Métropolite Moldavie and Bucovine.

Since 1992, he teaches with the orthodoxe Faculty of theology of the University of Iaşi. He is author of a great number of theological writings.

September 12th, 2007, he is elected Patriarche orthodoxe Eglise of Romania.

The Daniel patriarch usually speaks, in addition to Rumanian, French, German, English and Italian.
