Dancing dervishes

The Dancing dervishes or Mevlevi are a Moslem brotherhood Soufi E of the Mawlawiyya founded to Konya at the 13th Aldine century by Jalal Rumi.

They are known for the famous dances called Sema. They form enormous spinning tops, turning initially slowly then very quickly, until a form of Transe, deploying their arms, the right palm of the hand directed towards the sky to collect the grace of Allah, that of the left hand directed towards the ground for spreading there. The origin of this demonstration remains mysterious.
