Dance of the Rebirth

Heiresses, for some, of the medieval dances, the dances of the Renaissance diversify at the beginning of the 15th century and very quickly reach a big number of dances of court and Bal, as well for couples as collective.

Their works reflect the evolution of the Italian dance and the Ballet from court at the 15th century.

In France, among the oldest dances, one finds the Branle and the Low-dance. Others, more dances of couples, emergent in the current of the 16th century: the German , the Current , the Strong , the Pavane, the Volte, etc

In 1589, the Orchésographie of Thoinot Arbeau describes them all. Thirty-four years later, François de Lauze refines their description.
