Dance-theater

The dance-theater is a branch of the Danse and Chorégraphie which uses the expressivity and theatricalness to amplify the movement of the dancer. This choreographic form was born with the German Expressionnisme from the Années 1920 under the name of . Fucked Bausch and its company, was as of 1974 the large promoters. In the Years 1980, the Nouvelle French dance oscillated between “dance-theater” and “danced theater”, stressing sometimes on a discipline, sometimes on the other.

The dance-theater is not danced theater or played dance. It is dance because musical, in the direction where a linearity and a management of time and silences which compose it constitute an audible or visible music.

It is theater because it makes it possible either characters to exist and to be expressed, or with “dramatic” situations to be held on the plate, or simply the scenic space chosen by the artist.

It is all that or contains a little each parameter. The artist interpreter is then actor and dancer at the same time, without being held with a choreographic style specific nor to a given theatrical play.

Each “choreographer-setter in scene” will give his mark by creating the imaginary one wished.

This mixture of kinds makes it possible to use the body of the actor and his presence or its glance, for example by widening context of the theatrical or choreographic writing to two arts even more.
