Dampierre-in-Yvelines
Dampierre-in-Yvelines is a common French, located in the department of the Yvelines and the area Île-de-France. Its inhabitants is the Dampierrois .
Geography
The commune is located in the Regional natural park of the High-Valley of Chevreuse.It is made up of several parts:
- the village of Dampierre, located close to the castle, along the Ru of Be worth of Cernay;
- the village of Maincourt-on-Yvette, located along the Yvette;
- hamlets of Romery Field and Mousseau, located on the plate;
- the hamlet of Fourcherolles, located at the bottom of a small valley, the small valley of Valence.
The commune is bordering on the Mesnil-Saint-Denis in north, of Saint-Forget in the North-East and the east, of Choisel in south-east, Senlisse in the south, the Essarts-the-King in the west and Lévis-Saint-Name in the North-West.
The axis of through traffic which crosses the commune is the secondary road 91 which leads to north with Saint-Quentin-in-Yvelines and Versailles and in the south with Cernay-the-City. The road which comes from Chevreuse, in the east, is the secondary road 58 which continues its layout towards the North-East, Lévis-Saint-Name and beyond Élancourt.
In the railway plan, the closest stations are, on the one hand, in the North-West, the Gare of the Canopy where circulate Transiliens towards Montparnasse and Saint-Lazare and on the other hand, in the east, the Gare of Saint-Rémy-the-Chevreuse where starts the line B of the RER.
History

Inheritance
The Château of Dampierre was built in the last quarter of the 17th century, of 1675 to 1683, by Jules Hardouin-Mansart, on the orders of the duke of Chevreuse, Honore d' Albert de Luynes, son-in-law of Colbert.
It is accompanied by a large park, drawn by Ours at the 18th century.
In the room of music of the castle is exposed the Golden age , a fresco painted by Ingres.
The Saint-Pierre church was built at the 13th century, and was modified in 1858 and 1859 by Hyppolyte Blondel because of work of widening of the road.
The seigniory of Valence was granted in January 1510, by Dom Pierre Pichonnat, abbot of Saint-Denis-in-France, which bucket with life with Adam of Muzzle, notary and secretary of the roy, the stronghold of Valence. This lease is made with the help of 36 pounds. Another older version going back to 1502 was established for 12 pounds.
The Maison of Iron is located on the plate above the village of Dampierre, it is a prototype of dismountable small house, manufactured out of iron, built at the time of the World Fair of 1889.

The main activities are tourism (hotel trade, restoration) and the trade of proximity. Three farmers are installed on the communal territory.
