Dammartin-in-Goële was the seat of a fallen county with Antoine de Chabannes, companion of Jeanne d' Arc by her marriage in 1439 with Marguerite de Nanteuil, heiress of the county of Dammartin.
The castle was dismantled by Richelieu. Its site always overhangs the city: the esplanade of the Castle.
