Damigny

Damigny is a common French, located in the department of the Orne and the area Basse-Normandie.

Geography

This commune is located in the north-western part of the agglomeration of Alençon. The borough with the appearance of a village-street at the edge of the Briante, affluent of the the Sarthe. Its grounds are favourable with the cultures thanks to the silts of the plates, so named Lœss. Under the loesses, limestones of the Jurassic are Moyen of which the " oolitic limestone of Damigni" of age bajocian. Locally, the granite of subjacent Alençon appears.

History

The two orthographies are met: Damigni and Damigny. The inhabitants are called Damigniens and Damigniennes, although some, for folk reasons, prefer to name Damignons and Damignonnes.

  • Philippe Peccate , runner with foot specialized in ultra-bottom, made the Tour of the Mont Blanc in 43 hours, in August 2006.
