Damien Cottier

Damien Cottier , born on April 3rd, 1975, is a Political personality Canton of Neuchâtel member of the radical-democratic Parti.

Biography

Having followed a university training in history, geography and political sciences with the University of Neuchâtel to the free University of Berlin and to the Humboldt University of Berlin as well as specialization postgrade in international relations at the school of the High international studies of Geneva, he is the author of two memories, of which one on max Petitpierre.

Elected official appointed with the the Great Council neuchâtelois in April 1997, whereas he was general secretary of the radical party neuchâtelois. he is then the youngest deputy of the history of the canton. This record has had for summer exceeded by his/her colleague of party Raphaël Count. He will thereafter be re-elected in 2001 and 2005.

He in particular was president of the radical group of the Great Council during 4 years, chair 2nd parliamentary board of inquiry (STOCK) of the canton and president of the Agency fee and finances.

He is the author of the first motion having led to the introduction of a brake to the expenditure and one brake to the debt approved by the people neuchâtelois by 85% of favorable votes in June 2004. He is also the author of the motion which founded the generalized vote by correspondence and the tests of vote by Internet in the canton. He is joint author of the bill having led to the creation of the partnership for couples hétéro- or homosexual in the canton of Neuchâtel. He also proposed the right to take initiatives of the communes which was introduced into the new cantonal Constitution in 2000.
