Damel

The damel is invested by a council of Great Electors resulting from the seven big families of the kingdom. Subjected to rites of initiation, he is solemnly established and a dignitary then introduces to him the inhabitants of each area of the kingdom. But it can be revoked.
The mother or the sister of the damel carries the title of linguère.
One of the most famous damels - and the last - was Lat Dior. In 1886, with died of this one, the title of damel is removed.
