Dakodonou (or Dako Donou) is traditionally the second of the twelve kings of the Dahomey. It reigned of 1620 with 1645.
According to the legend, Dakodonou seized the power whereas his/her brother, the first king of Dahomey (Gangnihessou), was out of the capital. Dakodonou is famous to be a brutal man and violent one. Its symbols were an indigo earthenware jar (in reference to its murder of a grower called Donou, rolling up the body around the earthenware jar) a lighter and a bludgeon of war.
Before dying, Dakodonou named its nephew, Aho Houegbadja, like its successor.
