Daijiro Kato

Daijiro Kato (加藤大治郎 Katō Daijirō , July 4th, 1976 - April 20th, 2003) was a pilot of motor bike Japan board.

Kato was born with Saitama and began very young person the practice of the motor bike on mini machines. Besides it becomes four times national champion of the Japan on Pocket-bike.

It begins the race on genuine motor bikes in 1992, and takes part in its first Grand Prix in 1996. In 250  cm ³ it finishes third of this first race disputed in residence with a wild-card on the circuit of Suzuka. The following year, it gains the championship of Japan and again takes share, on invitation, with the Grand Prix of Japan, which it gains.

Extremely of its successes, Kato is engaged for one complete season in 2000 on Honda in 250  cm ³. It gains four Grand Prix during this season, finishing third of the championship of the world.

It dominates the 250  category; cm ³ in 2001 and logically removes the championship of the world while not gaining less than 11 Grand Prix, record of the kind.

In 2002, Kato passes to the category queen, the Moto GP, ex-500  cm ³. It makes one good season of training and hoped for much the season 2003.

At the time of the first Grand Prix of the season 2003, on April 6th, on the circuit of Suzuka, accommodating the large-price of Japan, Kato makes a fall which involves its death later two weeks, on April 20th. Honda thus sees disappearing that which carried all their hopes to see a Japanese pilot finally gaining the championship of the world in the queen category.

But Daijiro especially leaves behind him his Makiko wife and their two children, of which a young girl born a few weeks before her disappearance…

Its number of race was the 74.
