Dahchour
Dahchour is a site of the ancient Egypt, with about fifteen kilometers of Saqqarah, where are necropoles royal of and. Military zone during years, it was opened with the public only in 1996.
The specialists estimate that the two pyramids of the reign of Snéfrou are the first true pyramids, stages intermediate between those of Djéser and of Khéops:
- the first project of Meïdoum having been probably given up, Snéfrou thus chooses this site to build there its two last pyramids: the Pyramid rhomboïdale and the red Pyramid; the shape rhomboïdale of the first pyramid, which kept the essence of its limestone coating polished, is due to the shift phase of slope which passes suddenly from 54° to 43° towards half of the building, giving him this singular shape of double pyramid.
