daN Millman is a sportsman and American writer, born on February 22nd, 1946. Its fictionalized autobiography: the peaceful Warrior was a sharp success.
Winner of the Championship of the world of Trampoline in London, he was Co-captain of the team of gymnastics of the NCAA California University in 1968, and was also trainer of gymnastics of the University of Stanford and a professor of physical education in Oberlin College.
the peaceful Warrior
the peaceful Warrior ( Way off the Peaceful Warrior ), published in 1980, is the first book of Millman, an autobiographical fiction telling mainly its years of student. Initially little sold, the book became a best-seller.The history tells the fortuitous meeting between a pump assistant of a service station which becomes the mentor of a young person gymnaste, daN Millman, which names the man “Socrate”. When the right leg of Millman is broken in an motorbike accident, Socrate becomes a spiritual Master for Millman which learns how to become a Peaceful Warrior.
Some will note similarities of the book with the series of the books of Carlos Castaneda with the wizard Chaman Don Juan, in particular the Voyage in Ixtlan (1972).
The book was adapted to the cinema by Lions Spoils Films in 2006 ().
