DJ Jazzy Jeff

Jeffrey A. Townes alias DJ Jazzy Jeff is a DJ of American Hip-Hop born the January 22nd 1965 with Philadelphia. Also producing, it is better known for its musical career in company of Will Smith with which it formed the group DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince.

Biography

It was born in West Philadelphia in a musical environment where it could develop its musical tastes as of more the young age. Involving itself to mix in the cellars of the family home, it became very known not only for the wise choices of the pieces which it passed in evening but also (especially) for its aptitude for scratcher and its technique. Him then is said that it never makes errors. Its technique indeed enables him to transform the scratch dissonant noise with a sound holding the road, almost harmonious.

With Will Smith

In 1985, it is the meeting with Will Smith at the time of one evening. Complicity between them two was immediate and more still at the artistic level. The following year, they prepare their first individual: Girls Ain' T Nothing Drank Disorder and took the name of DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince. In 1987, after Jazzy Jeff took part in a seminar having still increased its capacities, they leave their first album: Rock'n'roll The House . A collaboration follows which perdure until 1993 without stopping.

Will Smith and Jazzy Jeff did not draw a feature between them since one finds them in 1999 for the album Willenium of Will Smith. They also leave two albums " Best of/Greatest Hits" in 1998 and 2006. One will find them also together at the time of the Live 8 in Philadelphia.

In solo

Jazzy Jeff has a career solo furnished very well with productions in company of artists such Tatyana Ali, Lil Kim, Method Man or Michael Jackson. Its very particular style combines R&B, Soul and a key of Jazz without speaking about its aptitude always growing for scratcher.

Thanks to its studio of recording and its label, it contributes to the revival of the music Soul in Philadelphia. In addition, it launches the career of many young artists such Jill Scott.

The Prince of Beautiful-Air

It incarnates, as from 1991, the best friend of Will Smith in the television series the Prince of Beautiful-Air. It camps there a very clean young man not, rather off-hand but O how much attaching. Unceasingly picking up the cousin of Will, Hilary, being involved continuously at Banks, it is regularly made (and literally) throw to the door by Uncle Phil.
