DIGITAL Hardcore Recordings
DIGITAL Hardcore Recordings is a label founded by Alec Empire in 1994. The major musical part is produced since Berlin whereas the label is based with London where the productions are masterisées and published. The funds of creation of DHR come from a sum received by the English label Phonogram Records following a breach of contract to the creation of an album of Atari Teenage Riot
It characterizes the particular kind of the artists lodged under this label, a kind influenced by energy Punk, thrown on happy a Jungle, a fututism Techno very irritated. Many artists today, even if they are not affiliated with DHR, assert and classify in the digital kind hardcore supported by an industrial and electronic base.
History
In 1995, DHR publishes their first album and a compilation Harder Than The Best containing a brutal outline of what was done at the time. There will have even been a DIGITAL Hardcore Festival held in several German cities, and the Suicide Club in Berlin, opened by a friend of ATR. This event will have been a platform of launching for new groups like EC8OR. Very quickly, the music of DHR is propagated in the mediums underground in Japan, the USA, Australia and Europe.In 1996 DHR a deal distribution for the United States signed on the label of the Beastie Boys Royal Grand, which allowed Atari Teenage Riot to turn in first part of groups like Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, Beck, Rage Against The Machine and Wu-Tang Clan. In 1997 Atari Teenage Riot, Shizuo and Ec8or (of artists DHR) embarked again for a DIGITAL Hardcore Tour in the USA.
In 1998 DHR assembles an office to New York and studios to Berlin. The same year Atari Teenage Riot enters during one time of pressure amongst other things following the behavior of the member Carl Cracks who misuses drugs obviously too much sinking until with died in 2000. This year precisely the label undergoes a decline following the stop of ATR, and thereafter few artists were signed. But with the end of the year 2000 Alec Empire decides to restructure DHR and to work on an album solo.
In 2001, Empire publishes Intelligence & Sacrifice and starts a great round through Europe, the USA and even Fuji Rock Fest in Japan being made more and more respect everywhere where it passes and thus allowing to promote DHR.
Since 2006 DHR distributes, via their site of sale on line, many artists resulting from the labels Geist Records, Rotters Golf Club, MIK.MUSIK (Poland), Wrong Music (the U.K.) and D-Trash (Canada).
