D-Bus is a project of Free software aiming at making it possible the applications to simply communicate between them. It belongs to the project Freedesktop.org.

DB was strongly influenced by DCOP, and in the future KDE 4 will replace it; it is already implemented in GNOME and Maemo.

Introduction

DB allows programs customers to be recorded near him, in order to offer their services to the other programs. It also enables them to know which services are available. The programs can be also recorded in order to be notified events managed by the core such as the connection of a new peripheral.

DB is implemented as a demon (demon). The users can launch of them several authorities, each one being called a channel ( Chanel ). Generally, there is a channel privileged, named the channel system ( system Chanel ), and authorities deprived for each connected user.

The main role of the channel system is to send the messages of the demon HALL to the other processes concerned.
