D-12
D-12 is a group of American Rap in which the members are originating in Detroit (Michigan). Carried out by the superstar Eminem, the group left two albums to success.
Biography
D12 (for Dirty Dozen) was founded in Détroit, in the middle of the Années 1990 by the rappor
Proof. This very active rappor, freestyler highly skilled and organizer of battles in legendary “Hip Hop Shop” (immortalized in the film
8 Mile ) gathered around him various rappeurs among whom Bizarre and
Eminem. This collective, which was to count 12 members, was reduced finally to 6, each one with a double personality. The producing rappor/The Kon Artis (producing of the first album of
Eminem,
Infinity ) integrated the group, bringing with him
Kuniva. The group recorded some models before the departure of
Eminem which preferred to be devoted to its career solo.
After its departure, Eminem was replaced by the rappor
Bugz. D12 recorded new pieces (gathered with the preceding ones, they are known today under the name of
The Underground EP ). A little later the rappor Swifty Mc Vay (in particular appeared on
The Slim Shady EP of
Eminem) became member of D12, then complete. The death of
Bugz, assassinated at 21 years following an argument in a park, pushed
Eminem to reinstate the group. Following the striking down success of its album
The Slim Shady LP , it signed even D12 on its own label in order to produce their first album.
D12 took part for two reasons of
The Marshall Mathers LP before accompanying
Eminem in round with
Dr. DRE and
Snoop Dogg. The exit of the first individual one, licencieux “the Shit one You”, preceded that by the album
Devil' S Night , crowned quadruple disc of platinum throughout the world. In 2002 and 2003, D12 took part in the original soundtracks of the films
Bad Company ,
The Wash ,
Bones and
8 Mile , while shouldering
Eminem on a title of
The Eminem Show and in round.
2004 marked the return in strength of the group with the album
D12 World , which was a success higher than the first opus thanks to the world tube “My Band”. The album also made it possible to the members of the group to leave the shade of Eminem, less present. A crowd of different projects followed (Music of the video game
Crime Life , participation in the 4th album of
Eminem, 6 months world tour, participation in the original soundtracks of the films
Shark Tales ,
The Barbershop II and
The Longest Yard ) before leaving the place to the careers solos of each one. Indeed, Bizarre left its album
Hannicap Circus ,
Proof connected the mixtape
Grown Man Shit with the LP
Searching For Jerry Garcia whereas The Kon Artis continued to produce for various artists (The Game,
Black Rob, Trick Trick).
The group however knew an hard blow with the death of Proof in April 2006, killed following an argument in a club of Strait. The 3rd album of the group, currently in production, will comprise nevertheless several verses of Proof, recorded a few months before its death.
