Dörrie dory

Doris Dörrie (born on May 26th, 1955 with Hanover) is a director, producing and writer German.

Life

In 1973, Doris Dörrie starts a two years stay to the the United States to study the trade of actor and the art of film to the Drama department (dramatic section) of the Université of the Pacific of Stockton (in California). It off continues then its studies with the New School Social Research of New York while living odd jobs in coffees or works about it as film presenter to the Goethe House of New York.

In 1975, after its return in Germany, it integrates the Hochschule für Fernsehen und Film München (university for the television and the cinema of Munich) and writes film criticisms for the Süddeutsche Zeitung (Newspaper of Germany of the south) where it will become assistant writer. The young woman works then as free collaborator for various television channels and will also turn some small documentary.

She produces some films and books. Its most known works are the comedies Männer (" hommes") and Ich und er (" me and lui"). In collaboration with Gerd Huber, Renate Seefeld and the cameramen Helge Weindler (whom she will marry in 1988) and Thomas Müller, Doris Dörrie founds in 1989 the Cobra Filmproduktions GMBH (cinematographic production company) which will produce all its posterior films.

Of its marriage with Helge Weindler, it has a girl, Carla, born in 1990. Unfortunately, on March 22nd, 1996, during the turning of Bin ich schön? (" am I beautiful? ") in Spain, Weindler dies of a Méningite.

In 1997, Doris Dörrie turns over to the university of Munich but this time, as a professor in dramaturgy applied. At the opera of Berlin, it puts in scene in 2001 Così fan tutte (" Thus they make toutes"), under the direction of the leader Daniel Barenboim, like Turandot (2003), with the chief Kent Nagano. In 2005, it puts in scene the opera Rigoletto of Giuseppe Verdi, directed by Zubin Mehta, with the Bavarian opera of Munich, like Mrs Butterfly of Giacomo Puccini. At the festival of Salzburg of 2006, it puts in scene " The finta Giardiniera" of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

Its work on Rigoletto , where Dörrie had located the action on Planet of the monkeys (according to homonymous film), gains in 2005 the palm of “trouble of the season” following a survey of criticisms.

The scenario writer lives today in Munich at the sides of his Carla daughter.
