Dîme saladine

The dîme saladine is a tax instituted in 1188 by Henri II of England and Philippe Auguste to finance IIIe Croisade against the Moslem chief Saladin.

All the population was imposed except those which left to fight. Those which remained in Europe and which did not pay the tax were punished Excommunication. The Clergé repurchased its share by pouring 5.000 Marc S of money.
