Déi Gréng

the Greens ( Déi Gréng in Luxemburgish) is a Political party Luxembourg ecologist.

Organization

The Congress is the most body of the party; it fixes the strategies and the political line of the party. It is opened with the whole of its members. Every two years, the congress elects the leader bodies of the party. They consist of two spokesperson, an executive committee, the office of the party in which the Young Greens ( Déi Jonk Gréng ) and the womens' organization are also represented, the executive council which represents the congress, the treasurer and the office of financial control.

History

1983-1984

The Greens were founded on June 23rd 1983. With the legislative elections of 1984, the party obtains two seats with the House of Commons. However the party is divided into two new formations in 1985, the GLEI (Green List, Initiative Ecologist) and GAP (Left the Green Alternative). Both formation take part separately in the legislative elections of 1989, and gain each one two seats.

1994-Maintenant

In 1994, the two parties present a joint list to the legislative elections, and gain five seats with the Room together, by collecting approximately 11% of the votes, and becoming thus the fifth parliamentary force. This same year, alliance gains one of the six seats of European deputies granted to Luxembourg. In 1995 the two parties amalgamate officially and take again their name of origin. But this year is also remembered the loss of the single seat to the the European Parliament, when Jup Weber leaves the party.

At the time of the legislative elections of 1999, the Greens lose a considerable number of voices (while falling to 9%), but they preserve to them five seats all the same, and regain one eurodéputé, at the time of the European elections. Green and liberal alliance founded by Jup Weber successful not to really compete with the Greens (it collects 1% of see).

In 2004 the Greens join again with success, by gaining seven seats with the House of Commons. Although gaining 15% of the votes to the European elections, and becoming thus the third political clout of the country, they obtain one seat. Currently the Greens are the fifth force with the House of Commons. They remain in the opposition, although the social Christian Popular party invited them to take part in the government coalition.

Communal elections

Since 1993, the Greens introduce candidates at the communal level. Currently, the Greens have 28 communal advisers, participant in several communal coalitions and occupy two posts of mayors. Since 2000, the Greens have an alderman in the Esch-on-Alzette, in coalition with the Socialist party and, until 2005, with the Left currently. The alderman ecologist is the deputy Felix Braz. In 2005, the deputies François Bausch and Viviane Loschetter became aldermen downtown of Luxembourg with the Party liberal-democrat.
