Cytochrome

The Cytochrome S are Coenzyme S intermediaries of the respiratory Chaîne. They have like common characteristic to be made up of a Porphyrine complexed with an atom of Fer or Cuivre. It is the latter which confers on the Coenzyme its properties oxydoréductrices by changing valence.

The reducing couple oxidizing/is the following: Fe^ {2+} \ leftrightarrow Fe^ {3+} + e^ {-}

The cores porphyrin are fixed by covalent bonds at the proteinic part of the Cytochrome S (figure 1).
