Cyril Scott

Cyril Scott (September 27th 1879 - December 31st, 1970) is a musician, poet, writer and philosopher English.

Biography

“Father of the British modern music” (according to Eugene Goossens), Cyril Scott was recognized inter alia by Debussy, Richard Strauss, Grieg and Stravinski like a major musician of our time. Pioneer of the English piano music of the beginning of the 20th century, it allowed this one to be extracted from musical conservatism from then and the German influence.

  • of the concertos for violin, violoncello, oboe and harpsichord

  • of innumerable songs

Recent discography

  • Muses, the Neptune Poem and the 2nd Concerto for piano with the Chandos editions by the philharmonic orchestra of the BBC directed by Martyn Brabbins (2004).
  • Sonatine for Guitar , greeted like " one of the tops of the repertory for guitar of the 20th siècle" (Angelo Gilardino, director of the museum of Segovia) recorded by Tilman Hoppstock at Signum label.

Author of 41 pounds on subjects concerning the Alternative medicine (of which it was one of the pioneers), the ethical , philosophy, the Christianisme and the Occultisme, and author of 5 collections of poetry, Cyril Scott is as famous for the three volumes devoted to a mysterious character as it presents like his instructor, " Initié".
