Cyprien Katsaris

Cyprien Katsaris (born with Marseilles on May 5th, 1951) is a pianist and type-setter free - Cypriot.

Biography

It begins its musical formation at the 4 years age with Marie-Gabrielle Louwerse in Cameroun where it passes its childhood. When its family settles in Paris, Cyprien Katsaris integrates the Conservatoire higher national of music and dance of Paris (1965). He studies the piano with Aline van Barentzen and Monique of Bruchollerie (First Price of piano, 1969) and the chamber music with Rene Leroy and Jean Hubeau (First Price, 1970). He gains then several international contests: the International Young Interpreters Rostrum-UNESCO (Bratislava, 1977), the First Price with the International Contest Cziffra (Versailles, 1974) and was the only European of the west prize winner to the international musical Concours Queen-Elisabeth-of-Belgium in 1972.

Its talent underlined by famous musicians (Olivier Messiaen: “ I was likely to hear Cyprien Katsaris in his dazzling interpretation of the 3rd Concerto of Rachmaninov and also in a splendid execution of the last of my Twenty Glances. Its steel technique, its ardor, its force and its authority, its brightness finally, make of Cyprien Katsaris a marvellous pianist, and I rely most whole on his future . ”) immediately propels it in a career of international soloist allowing him to play with almost all the big bosses (Ormandy, Bernstein, Harnoncourt, Rattle, Dohnanyi, Dutoit, Rostropovich, Nagano, etc) and the greatest formations.
