Cyprian Kamil Norwid
Cyprian Norwid (1821-1883) is a writer, painter and poet Polish. He is regarded as one of the largest Polish poets with Jan Kochanowski, Adam Mickiewicz, Juliusz Słowacki and Bolesław Leśmian. Its works were redécouvertes by the movement Polish modernism, of which it became the “Wieszcz” (prophet, the large Polish poet).
In 1842 it leaves to study with the Academy of Beautiful arts of Florence. In 1845 it settles has Rome where it becomes acquainted with Maria Kalergis with whom it will undertake many voyages in Europe.
In 1849 it settles in a final way in Paris, belonging to the great intellectual emigration that account the French capital. He knew inter alia Adam Mickiewicz, Frederic Chopin, Juliusz Słowacki or Zygmunt Krasiński.
Having lived a long time under miserable conditions he becomes boarder of a house of veterans where he dies in 1883. Following the example Mozart it was thrown to the common grave of Ivry.
Its works are redécouvertes by a Polish critic and editor Zenon Przesmycki in 1901 in a library of Vienna. Its body (really it was a little ground of the tomb groups) is transferred to the Wawel in Poland - the royal castle from the cemetery from Montmorency close to Paris. He was the most admired by Polish pope Jean-Paul II.
