Analyzes
The principal set of themes of this film is the identity/personality. The scenario writer places the spectator in a futuristic world in which the identity/personality is malleable thanks to science. He calls in question the values of unicity and truth of the identity/personality, while letting appear the faults of such modifications. Thus the main character remembers through his evolution the tastes and passions his preceding personality, without forgetting the similarities required at the time of the operations of change of identity.
The other during this questioning is the set of easily deceived to which deliver each character, being mistaken the ones others on several levels: the manipulator handles (first level), but it is handled itself (second level), but it knows it and uses it (third level), and so on.
Element holding with the realization, it is interesting to pay attention to the progressive appearance of the color in film. Indeed, the first sequence is almost in black and white. The sequences gradually take color by a progressive variation of the saturation of the image and addition of coloured elements of decoration. But this progression is not completely linear and is used to punctually highlight certain elements or characters. This appearance of the color can be felt like a simple stylistic effect, but can also be interpreted like the resurgence of the personality/identity of the main character.
