Cynric de Wessex
Cynric de Wessex was king of Wessex of 534 with 560. He was the son or the grandson of the preceding king, Cerdic. As this last it was probably of Breton origin, its name being a version anglicized of britonnic the Cunorix . Among the little of thing which one knows in connection with his life, we know that it took Searobyrig, in the area of Salisbury, in 552. Also, in 556 Cynric and Ceawlin fought a battle against the Britons to Beranburh, now Barbury Camp . He is generally regarded as the father of Ceawlin but that is disputed. This filiation does not appear in all the manuscripts of the Anglo-Saxon Chronique and its presence could be a late interpolation intended to bind Ceawlin to the line of Cerdic. Toujors according to the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle it would have been present at the sides of Cerdic dice 495 but that appears not very probable
In 2004, in the film King Arthur , Cerdic and Cynric seem Saxon invaders and are killed, respectively, by Arthur and Lancelot with the Bataille of Badon Hill (Mons Badonicus).
