The cynorrhodon is the Fruit Rosier and wild rose, and more generally of the Plante S of the kind Rosa , of the family of the Rosacée S. It is, on the plan Botanique, a False-fruit, coming from the transformation of the floral Réceptacle.
The cynorrhodon is familiarly called “hip”, because it provides the itching powder.
The orthography “cynorhodon” is also allowed. Foot-note: the dictionary of the French Academy retains this only last orthography.
Let us cynorrhodons become ripe about October-November, but one can see of it all the winter in the pastoral hedges.
They are however rich in Vitamine C and contain sugars (Saccharose and Lévulose).
One makes with the rose-hip of the Confitures houses and artisanal (not to be confused with the jam of petals of pink).
In popular medicine, let us cynorrhodons them are employed in particular against the Diarrhée S, the vitamin deficiency and the Asthénie. One uses them either in Décoction, or in the form of wine or of elixir (Macération in alcohol with sugar addition).
The seeds contained in akenes would have a capacity Vermifuge.
