Cycle orientation

In Swiss, in the cantons of Freiburg, Geneva and Valais a cycle of orientation is an educational establishment of the secondary I (from 12 to 15 years, or 7th, 8th and 9th year of schooling).

The cycle of orientation avoids an early and final selection. The schooling is adapted to the rates/rhythms of Apprentissage young people. During these three years, a reorientation is always possible, according to the evolution of the results Scolaire S and the progressive development, by the pupil himself, of his project of Formation. It aims also to develop the open-minded, faculty to communicate, autonomy and solidarity necessary to futures enlightened Citoyen S and citizens.

All the dies of teaching of the cycle of orientation give access, in the event of promotion, with the secondary II.

The equivalent of the cycle of orientation in the cantons of Vaud, Neuchâtel, the Jura and Bern, is the secondary school. In the canton of the Tessin it is about the Scuola Media.
