Cybercrime

The cybercrime , or the cybercriminality is a largely widespread term to describe an activity in which the systems and the data-processing networks are a tool, a target or a place to carry out criminal activities.

Presentation

Although the cybercrime term describes usually only the criminal activity in which the system or the data-processing network is an essential part of the crime, this term is also employed to describe traditional criminal activities in which computers or the networks are used to carry out an illicit activity.

For example, these examples are regarded as cybercriminels:

  • the system or the data-processing network is a tool of the criminal activity: the Junk email and the violation of the Intellectual property or the Royalty, in particular via the networks station at station.

  • the system or the data-processing network is a place of criminal activity: flight of the service (in particular, the Phreaking) and certain financial frauds.

Legislation

There at present does not exist any truly international legislation concerning data-processing criminality. A pirate will be able to thus have an unauthorized access to a computing system being abroad without being too much worried by justice.
