Customs union
A customs union is a regional trade agreement whose Member States adopted a common marketing policy with respect to third countries. This common marketing policy defines common external tariffs, but also the redistribution of the customs receipts between States, even of the policies of economic cooperation.
A customs union often results from the deepening of a Zone of free trade (which does not define a common external tariff).
The customs union is derogatory with the Clause of the most favoured nation. It is however authorized by the agreements of OMC. The development of the Libre-échange to regional scales is indeed supposed to open the way with a free trade on a world level.
Any agreement of Common Market and economic Union and monetarist includes/understands a customs union.
