History

Types of currency

  • blanmûse (plate or half-escalin, of Dutch blammuyser ): five pennies, a quarter of guilder

Copper currencies

  • broûlé : for example of 12 pennies, 16 pennies,…
  • çans' (hundred): hundred (hundredth of the Dutch guilder); after 1830, parts of 1 and 2 centimes of franc
  • êdant (black poplar): value of a quarter of penny
  • patår (patard): penny inhabitant of Li2ege (a tenth of escalin, 4 black poplars)

Silver moneys

  • cårlus' (carolus or double escalin): value of two escalins (20 pennies of Liege); a guilder Brabant-Liege
  • patacon (patagon): ecu inhabitant of Li2ege (8 escalins)
  • skèlin (escalin, of former English skilling ): value of ten pennies
