Curious N.O.

The Curieuse is an oceanographical ship chartered by the French polar Institut - Paul Emile Victor. It is attached to the islands Kerguelen and is employed for the service road of the islands of the Gulf of Morbihan as of the remainder of the archipelago. It brings a logistic support to the research programs terrestrial scientist and has equipment enabling him to undertake research in Océanographie, ichtyology and Hydrographie. It turns over once per annum to the Réunion for the careenage and can also serve the other subantarctic islands of district of the southern and antarctic Lands French. It is sometimes called to take emergency care in the other islands of the district or to carry help to ships in distress in this part of the Antarctic Ocean far away from the commercial sea routes. Its name refers to the boat of Raymond Rallier of Baty and of its Henri brother which explored the archipelago at the beginning of the 20th century.
