Culture nauruane

The culture nauruane is in the beginning Oceania but is very strongly marked by the occidentalization of the company of the island which accompanied its Colonisation then its Indépendance.

Manners

Before the Colonization of their island and the occidentalization of their company, the Nauruans were polygamous people organized in a tribal company and matrilinéaire. They did not tattoo not as it was the use in other islands of the Pacific Ocean, carried Pagne S of sheet of Cocotier (the ridis ), rubbed the body with Huile of coconut and practiced Danse S which were considered to be too much sexual by the Européens. The rise of their standard of living which followed enabled them to be completely occidentalized.

With the occidentalization of the company nauruane at the end of the 19th century, certain dietary habits change: the alcohol is prohibited by the colonial authorities and of new food like the Pain, the Riz, the Sucre, the Conserve S of Saumon, the Cookie S and the Farine are used more and more.
