This article devotes to the description of the Culture in North Korea .

Literature

The Littérature in North Korea comprises political and revolutionary writings, but also a realistic current which depicts the daily life and of the authors of historical novels, among which Hong Sok-jung.

Two Korean historical novels, published by North-Korean authors, were recently published in South Korea:

- " The large Buddhist priest Sosan" (Sosan-taesa) by Choi Myung-ik;

- " The assassination of Ito Hirobumi by Ahn Joong-keun (Ahn Joong-keun Idungbakmunul-soda) " ; adapted by Rim Jong-blood.

Music

The North Korea encourages musical education in the education. The musical studies can continue abroad.

The music is, with the gymnastics and the dance, one of the three principal disciplies development in the overall Mouvements in North Korea.

The factory of musical instruments of Pyongyang is one of the principal production units of the instruments North-Koreans, in particular those traditional (kayagum, okryugum, jangsaenap, jodae, tanso, taephiri…) (see the article on the official site North-Korean " Naenara" ).

Many artists North-Korean were prizes winner of international prizes, following the example A-semi Hwang, Korean coed with the Academy Santa Cecilia of Rome, prize winner of the 13th international contest of song Giuseppe Di Stefano, in May 2006 (source: Central Korean News Agency).

The cinema, television and the radio

As in China, the Cinéma occupies an essential place in the leisures (see the article Cinéma North-Korean). The International festival of film of Pyongyang is organized every two years.

The rate of equipment in television stations rises at 170 stations for thousand inhabitants. Korean television counts four chains: Korean central Television (English acronym: KCT), the Television of Mansudae, the educational and cultural Network Korean (with dominant cultural) and the Television of Kaesong, this last chain - created in 2003 - targeting a South Korean public. If the development of the achievements of the leaders Kim It-sung and Kim Jong-Il constitutes the most original feature for the Western observers, the international topicalities, the catalog of films North-Korean and the sport also occupy an important place in the programming of the chains.

The North Korea in addition counts 17 radio stations, of which eleven belong to the " Central Korean Broadcasting Station".

The opera

The revolutionary Opera style Sea of blood, written in 1971 by the president Kim It-sung, represents the fight anti-Japanese woman in the years 1930 which constitutes, with the Guerre of Korea and the combat of the Second world war, of the major topics of artistic creation, arts person, musical and cinematographic.

Painting

Of socialist realistic style, painting owes immortaliser the actions of the leaders, but also comprises scenes of nature inspired of the tradition of old Korea: the tiger, which disappeared in the south from the peninsula in the years 1930, and the crowned mountains represent traditional sets of themes.

The circus

Based on the tradition of excellence of the Korean acrobats, comprising few animals a contrario, the Cirque is strongly developed in North Korea. " flying girls" (trapezists) from the circus of State of Pyongyang thus received a gold clown to the 30e festival of the circus of Monte Carlo (see the detailed article Cirque of Pyongyang).

International cultural relations

The North Korea signed on July 21st, 1998 the convention of the world heritage of UNESCO. The functions of ambassador of the democratic Popular republic of Korea (RPDC) at UNESCO are exerted, in Paris, by the acting general of the RPDC near the French Republic. The royal Tombes of Koguryo are registered since 2004 on the list of the world heritage of UNESCO.

At the time of thirteenth the world Festival of youth and students, organized 1st with July 8th, 1989, Pyongyang accommodated 22000 participants coming from 177 countries.
