Museums

6 museums are labellisés “museums of France”: the museum-castle of Annecy, the alpine museum of Chamonix, the museum Leon Ponds of Lovagny, the museum of the Albanian with Rumilly, the museum of the Chablais to Thonon-the-Baths, the museum of the Country of Thônes.

There is a Center of scientific culture, technique and industrial (CCSTI), the Turbine, with Notch-Gevrier.

Architectural heritage

Several buildings of Haute-Savoie were labellisés “Inheritance of the XXe century”.

Among the great figures of high-Savoyard architecture, it is necessary to quote Maurice Novarina, of Thonon-the-Baths.

Contemporary art

There is with Annecy one of the five universities of art of the Rhone-Alps area leading to the Higher National Diploma of Plastic Expression (DNSEP).

The Contemporary art is exposed in several galleries of Annecy, Évian-the-Baths and Thonon-the-Baths, in various places (museums, library, MJC…) from Annecy, with the Villa of the Park with Annemasse, in the Arts center of Flaine.

The foundation for the contemporary art of Claudine and Jean Marc Solomon leads an action of promotion of the contemporary art to Annecy and the castle of Arenthon with Alex, in bond with the MAMCO of Geneva.

Association " Acte1" is also an actor of the world of art, in the valleys of Thônes. In addition, of the temporary exhibitions take place the summer with chartreuse of Mélan with Taninges.

The book and writing

The Rhone-Alps Agency for the book and documentation enters about thirty bookstores and as many libraries in Haute-Savoie.

Many contemporary authors have fasteners in Haute-Savoie: Jacques Ancet, John Shepherd, Michel Bittern, Andre Depraz, Roger Clipping-Rock, Jean-Pierre Gandebeuf, Jean-Luc Hennig, Brigitte Hermann, Yves Hughes, Jean-Marc Lovay, Valère Novarina, Robert Piccamiglio, Francis Pornon, Anne Sauvy, Daniele Séraphin, Michelle Turner, Jean-Vincent Verdonnet, authors of cartoon Felix Meynet and Céno (Babole), and, for youth, François Beiger, Yves Hughes, Nasturtium Mazille, Christophe Miralles.
La Haute-Savoie had attracted some famous writers of XVIIIe and XIXe centuries in particular around the editor François Buloz: Eugene Sweats, Anna de Noailles, Alphonse of Lamartine…

Formation

The academy of Annecy east one of the three national academies of area of the Rhone-Alps. There is a council school of music and approved dance with Annemasse and Seynod.

Scenes

the Arts center of Bonlieu, with Annecy is one of the five national scenes of the Rhone-Alps. The auditorium of Seynod constitutes the other important scene of the agglomeration annecian with the Breeze Freezes for the amplified musics.
In the agglomeration annemassienne, Castle-Red, arts center and " Rhone-Alpes" scene; , ensures the creation and diffusion of alive arts (theater, dance, music) and develops programming of quality in direction of the French and Genevese public.
Space Maurice Novarina " House of the arts" , with Thonon-the-Baths is an important scene of Haute-Savoie.

Cinema

Annecy shelters the Cité of the image moving (CITIA) and, each year, it accommodates the International festival of cartoon film (FIFA) organized by the international Center of the cinema of animation (CICA). This festival is posed today like the " first competitive festival on the level international" entirely dedicated to the animation, and " the world reference for all the professionals of the animation".

Annecy also accommodates a festival of Italian film at the beginning of October each year.
