Culture Club
Culture Club is a group of British New Wave formed in 1981 by Boy George (singer) and by Mickey Craig (bass player). They will be joined by Jon Moss (beater, synthetizer) and by Roy Hay (guitarist). They leave their first album Kissing to Be clever in 1982 and are a world success thanks to the song Do you really want to hurt me , number one in several countries.
The group becomes then the icon of a whole nation thanks to their second album Color by numbers and to Karma chameleon (number 1 a little everywhere), which speaks about the relation a long time hidden between Boy George and Jon Moss. The album was sold with more than 16 million specimens.
After having classified several titles in the world and British charts, Culture Club leaves its third album Waking up with the house one fire , the album is sold well but it is weak (baclées songs…) and the group starts to lose speed.
Because of certain stories of drugs, Culture Club separate in 1986 just after the exit from From luxury to heartache .
The group tried to be reformed in 1989 but energy between the members was not there. In 1998, it was the case. In May, the group made its first spectacle in 13 years within the framework of the American emission " VH1 Storytellers". Some world tours then had place into 1998,1999 and 2000. Simple had much success in England, I Just Wanna Be Loved, which rose with the 4th rank of the prize list. An album, Don' T Mind Yew I C, was available in certain countries of Europe and Asia only.
After a short bad patch, Boy George directs now a label of disc jockey and continued a career of soloist.
