Cultural Genocide
The expression cultural genocide is generally considered, particularly in its French-speaking use, like an abuse language.
Abuse language
The abuse comes from the use of the term Génocide to qualify the physical destruction of Armenian or Jewish populations in first half of the 20th century. The genocide term, according to this design, should not be seen allocating of qualifier, because it would then cause to relativize the horror of the physical genocides. It would thus be necessary to substitute the term Ethnocide to him.
It is thus a term of which the use is discussed each time it is followed adjective " culturel".
Use
It is however used, in an often criticized way, in various occasions of which:
- destruction of monuments of a culture (monuments and Armenian cemeteries in Azerbaïdjan)
- destruction of traditional cultures;
