The cucumber ( Cucumis sativus ) is a Vegetable herbaceous, crawling, of the same family as the Calebasse, the melon or the marrow (family of the Cucurbitacées) cultivated for its Fruit, which is consumed like Légume. The plant which pushed naturally with the foot of the the Himalayas would have been domesticated for the first time in India there is at least: 3000 years.
It is the same species Cucumis sativus which produces the Cornichon S.
