The Spain includes/understands 50 provinces which form the essence of the territory of the country except for the two autonomous cities of Ceuta and Melilla. Since 1978, the provinces have less capacities than the 17 communities autonomous made up of one or more provinces, which enjoy a rather broad autonomy compared to the central government.
Seven autonomous communities are made up only of only one province: Asturies, Balearic Islands, Cantabrie, Rioja, Madrid, the area of Murcie and the Navarre. They are announced in fat in the table below.
