Crypt of the Popes
The Crypte of the Popes is a Crypte which was discovered in the Catacombes of Rome, the Catacombe of Saint-Calixte, in 1854 by the archeologist Giovanni Battista of Rossi. This one baptized the place as being “small the the Vatican, the principal monument of all the necropoles Christian women”.
One finds there nine Pape S of the 3rd century:
- Denys (not found tomb stone)
- Etienne Ier (not found tomb stone)
- Eutychien
- Felix Ier (not found tomb stone)
- Fabien
- Lucius Ier
- Pontien
- Sixth II
Also eight bishops of the same period find themselves there.
