Cryogénien
The Cryogénien is the second period Néoprotérozoïque. It extends from -850 to -630 My. It follows the Tonien and precedes the Édiacarien.
It is subdivided in 2 times: the Sturtien from -850 to -650 My and the Varangien from -650 to -630 Ma.
Cette period are called thus because it gave place to a general glaciation of the Earth (cryo: cold). According to certain scientists, this severe glaciation would have related to whole planet; according to others, only the equatorial band would not have been touched.
