Cruelty and the Beast
Cruelty And The Beast is an album of Cradle off Filth left the May 5th 1998 at Music For Nations.
The topic of the album is entirely devoted to the topic of the Countess Erzsébet Báthory, found responsible for tortures and murder on many young girls, the dubious number of victims remaining. It should be noted however that the album refers more to the popular and fantastic legends that with historical reality of the character. The cover in particular present a Bathory countess taking a blood bath. That refers to one of the elements of the most popular legends around the countess, in whom the blood baths were judicious to give again youth and beauty to him. But the stories of blood bath were refuted by the modern historians.
The album includes/understands the participation of Ingrid Pitt in certain passages in the role of Báthory. In reference to the role of the countess whom it had held in film of the Hammer of 1971, Comtesse Dracula .
The symphonic elements of inspiration (by the means of the synthetizer) were put ahead in this album. The album was accepted at its exit. But its production was in spite of very prone to criticism, particularly the sound of the battery.
The title Cruelty Brought Thee Orchids remained among the constant titles which are played into live from the exit of the album.
