The place of the Nation , old place of the Throne then place of Throne-Reversed is a place of Paris located at horse on the 11 {{E}} and the 12 {{E}} ().
History
Space was generous there. When one had carried the layout of the Mur of the Farmers general well beyond the built city, which was in fact only one countryside stretching houses in gardens, cloisters in places of prayers, one had left a vast space to the grassy and rough ground which was prolonged in vines and truck farms to the enclosure and with the walls of the gardens of the old village of populated Picpus of vast convents, of houses of education or retirement. On this space had been installed a throne on July 26th, 1660 for the solemn entry in Paris of Louis XIV and Marie-Therese of Austria, ghost of Saint-Jean-with-Luz after their marriage. From where its first name of place of the Throne. It was renamed place of Throne-Reversed after August 10th, 1792.

It was yet only one waste ground. On the horizon, were profiled the two surmounted columns of the statues of Philippe Auguste and Saint Louis imagined by Ledoux to frame the doors of the granting. The guillotinées people were buried with the Cimetière of Picpus. The guillotine was installed with the current site of the Damart store.
The place nowadays
The place takes the current name of place of the Nation at the time of the national festival of July 14th, 1880.

One finds there the two houses and the two columns of the Barrière of the Throne designed by Claude Nicolas Ledoux and built for the barrier of granting (Mur of the Farmers general) which frame the entry of the Cours of Vincennes.
- the central monument, “ the Triumph of the Republic ” is a group bronzes of it work of the sculptor Aime-Jules Dalou. It was installed in 1889 for the centenary of the French revolution, initially plasters some then bronzes in 1899 of it. The Republic, perched on a sphere, in a tank drawn by lions and is framed by various figures symbolic systems.
The June 22nd 1963, the magazine Salut the buddies organizes a concert there, with singers like Johnny Hallyday, Richard Anthony, Eddy Mitchell, Frank Alamo and other artists. It attracts more than 150.000 young people and striking the spirits, with the following day with the One of the newspaper Paris-Press “Hello the hooligans!”. Photographer and friend of many singers, Jean-Marie Périer took images in this memorable concert. At the same time the place of the Nation was also partially the place of the Foire of the Throne before this one does not move for the Pelouse of Reuilly.
