Crowned sites and ways of pilgrimage in the Kii mounts

The crowned sites and ways of pilgrimage in the mounts Kii are located in the forests of the Kii mounts at the Japan. Three crowned sites of the Shintoïsme and the Buddhism, Yoshino and Omine, Kumano Sanzan and Koyasan, are connected by ways of pilgrimage to the old capitals of Nara and Kyōto,

The sites were recorded in 2004 with the World heritage of UNESCO.

Paths

The ways of pilgrimage called are divided into five paths.
  • It: of with (approximately 70 km).

  • It: with (approximately 160km).
  • It: of with.

The peninsula of Kii is in one of the areas of Japan with strong pluviometry. For this reason the paths were paved there stones in many points. With the time Edo (1603-1968), the stronghold of Wakayama marked out the paths of terminals, distant of a laughed (approximately 500 meters).

History

The area of Kumano appears in as a place of natural worship.

The 99 ōji  

At the time Edo, there was nearly a hundred ōji , them, on the paths which carry out of Ōsaka to Kumano Sanzan. There remain very little today about it.
