Crotoy
Crotoy is a common French, located in the department of the Somme and on the littoral of the area Picardy. The inhabitants of Crotoy are called the Crotellois
It is one of the principal localities of the Baie of Somme.
Crotoy has the characteristic interesting to be a sand beach end, Manche exposed to the Southern (from where the name of white beach ).
The village of Crotoy is today a Seaside resort (not classified officially by the State) animated whose beach constitutes undoubtedly one of the principal assets; it also profits from the proximity of Marquentera (Park of the Marquenterre).

History
The history of Crotoy is particularly rich for a small city.Crotoy thus saw the visit of famous characters of the French history: Jeanne d' Arc (which was imprisoned there), Jules Verne (which came there in holiday since Amiens before living there and wrote there 20.000 Miles under the seas ), Toulouse-Lautrec as well as the writer Colette.
She was also the ground of election of the Frères Caudron (pioneers of aviation) as well as the famous one and prestigious Parisian perfumer but of origin abbevilloise Guerlain (whose old private mansion on the sea front was reconverted in hotel of tourism).

Activities
It has like main activity the fishing (fishing at sea and especially fishing with foot for the hulls, salicornes and, since 1981, culture of the mussel of mussel beds). Crotoy also lives, and since 2001, at the rate/rhythm of the gathering of a sea plant whose sheet is called " ear of cochon" by the autochtones, which make use of it to accompany red meats, fish, etc (the sheet is cooked like a spinach and can be cooked various ways). Hunting for waterfowls is the main activity of distraction for its residents. Either with the boot or at the hut or the huteau (hole length of a person on 1m20 broad and of 0m30 of depth where straw is deposited, and covered with a fabric color sands, the fabric is posed on 3 to 4 wood piqués stems in sand in the shape of hoop to give a form convex to the huteau). The hunter makes a huteau with approximately 20 meters of a river or a water puddle pool where it deposits appealing plastics and alive. It can spend the night or the day there.
