Crotalus

See also: Crotale (homonymy)

The term of crotale indicates the snakes of the kind Crotalus of the subfamily of the Crotalinae . It is often indicated, in the language running, like “rattlesnake” because of his sound-effects man also called Cascabelle, which is an assembly large scales (rings) imperfectly fixed present at all the species of the Crotalus kind, except at Crotalus catalinensis . Thus, the crotale can frighten an intruder by agitating his tail. Let us note that it can hear itself the sound only it produces: like all the snakes, it is deaf. The “bell” gains a ring with each moults.

All the Espèce S of this kind are poisonous, and meet in the south of the North America and in Central America (mainly with the Mexico for the latter).

It is by copying the colors of the flowers, the sheets or the fruits that small the crotales of Central America is dissimulated with their preys as with their enemies.
