Cross of the military Value
The Croix of the military value is a French Décoration. It rewards the men (and women) titular for a quotation for feat of arms gained on theaters of operations which are not the subject of the attribution of the Military Cross.
History
The Military Cross, instituted in 1915, not being able to be decreed for the operations being held in Algeria (these operations being described as operations of maintenance of law and order ), it was decided to create a new decoration. The April 11th 1956, by decree, was created the Cross of the Military Value (initially called “Medal of the Military Value”). A decision of the April 30th 1956 specifies that it could be decreed for the operations in Tunisia, since January 1st 1952, with the Morocco since June 1st 1953, Algeria since the October 31st 1954. A new decision of the February 13rd 1957, added the operations in Mauritania since the January 10th 1957. New texts put an end to the attribution of the V.M. on these territories.
A decision of the November 13rd 1968 opened the possibility of decreeing the V.M. with the personnel in service with the Chad. Since, new decisions were made, and the attribution of the V.M. is always in force.
